Florida Neighborhoods Conference

FNC LogoThe City of Tallahassee is proud to host the 2008 Annual Florida Neighborhoods Conference that will be held from June 26-28, 2008. The conference format is planned to take advantage of being held in the state capital while remaining true to its goal of improving the quality of life in neighborhoods throughout the state.

The idea to organize the Florida Neighborhoods Conference grew out of discussions among local neighborhood services staffs from around the state. Several of these individuals were board members of Neighborhoods USA (NUSA), a national advocacy organization for neighborhoods. They recognized the growing interest by Florida residents who, with the support of their neighborhood services staffs, wanted to make a difference in their communities.

In 1997, the first conference was held in Orlando with 300 attendees. Since then, the 3-day conference has grown to an annual average of 1,200 plus. The conference has previously been held in Jacksonville, St. Petersburg, Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa, Sarasota, and Lakeland.

FNC 2008 - Tallahassee, FLThe conference will provide a full array of workshops, tours, and exhibits in addition to the social events that will allow attendees the opportunity to network, get to know each other, and share examples of best practices in approaches to organizing and strengthening neighborhoods.

Additionally, since Tallahassee is the state capital, a special workshop track has been included on state government programs and initiatives that greatly impact our neighborhoods.
