Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill

Boat surrounding oil spill - photo courtesy of U.S. Coast GuardThe City of Tallahassee wants to keep you informed of the impacts of the Gulf Oil Spill from the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

Tallahassee isn't even on the Gulf Coast, so why should the City of Tallahassee and its residents be concerned?
Our Gulf Coast is just a short drive from our beautiful community, providing recreational fun (i.e. swimming, fishing, building sandcastles); as well as providing our region with jobs and food. If the oil reaches our neighboring counties' shores, it will impact not only their lives, but ours in many ways as well.

The City of Tallahassee is monitoring the situation closely as we own and operate the Sam Purdom Power Plant along the St. Marks River in Wakulla County.

We want to keep you informed, and the best way to do this is by providing you quick access to portals that may have answers to your questions.
