The Tallahassee Senior Services Health Program offers seniors the resources to continue a lifestyle of active aging through low or no-cost preventive health care and education. The Center's Health Program Coordinator, a registered nurse, facilitates a variety of preventive health screenings. The nurse is also available to assist seniors with accessing medical services available in the community. Volunteer nurses and aides provide additional helping hands and administrative support.

Brain-Body Balance Stretch and Relaxation Class
Teaches strategies to enhance attention, focus, balance, energy, self-esteem and memory while using exercise techniques that include relaxation, stretching and simple brain retrieval to improve learning. Low impact, seated exercise.

Chair Yoga

Club50 offers a 30-minute workout circuit on hydraulic resistance training fitness equipment that accommodates any level of fitness. The program focuses on combining cardiovascular and strength training. Tallahassee Senior Foundation members pay $3 per workout with no club membership required.

Life Exercise

Low impact aerobics, flexibility, mobility, range of motion, small hand weights and stretching for participants at all levels. Chairs are available for individuals desiring to sit.

Yoga

Learn the ancient art of Iyengar and Discovery inspired Hatha Yoga to improve flexibility, concentration, enrich and calm the mind and tone the body. Students should wear shorts or tights, bring a towel, belt, pillow, and mat and be prepared to work barefoot. Classes are for all ages, male and female. Special rates available for six-week sessions. Fee: $10 for 55+; $12 for others.

Donations of Medical Equipment Appreciated
The Senior Center graciously accepts donations of new or used (but clean) medical equipment. We serve as a community resource for seniors that are in need of durable medical equipment, short or long term. We currently have plenty of bedside commodes (potty chairs) but are accepting shower chairs, walkers, bathtub grab bars, adult diapers, scooters, lift chairs, and canes.
