Electric Utility Receives National Reliability Award
Your Own Utilities Rates Among Nation's Top Electric Service Providers
The City of Tallahassee's Electric Utility is one of 48 of the nation's more than 2,000 public power utilities to earn Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) recognition from the American Public Power Association for providing consumers with the highest degree of reliable and safe electric service.
The Tallahassee Electric Utility is one of three Florida utilities to receive a Platinum designation. The award recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in four key disciplines: reliability, safety, training and system improvement. Criteria within each category are based on sound business practices and represent a utility-wide commitment to safe and reliable delivery of electricity.
"Reliability and safety have always been top priorities for our utilities. As a municipal utility, we believe it's particularly important for our customers to understand the high standards we maintain," said Kevin Wailes, general manager of Electric Utility. "We intend to maintain this distinction."
Applications for the award are scored and voted on by a 15-member panel. The RP3 certification is valid for two years. The American Public Power Association is the service organization for the nation's more than 2,000 community-owned electric utilities that serve more than 43 million Americans.
Additionally, the City of Tallahassee Electric Utility was recently awarded a Florida Municipal Electric Association Safety Award for its continued commitment to safety and low incident rate during the past year.
